As a rule, we usually recommend that you opt for a reverse chronological resume format since employers typically prefer it to the functional and hybrid options. If you do choose the chronological format, your resume structure will be broken into distinct sections, with headings to identify the type of information contained in each area. 

Here is an example outline that explains the structure you need:

  • Contact information: This section appears at the top of your resume and provides the employer with all the details needed to contact you for an interview or job offer. Be sure to include your full name and location, as well as contact details like a phone number, email, and relevant social media URLs (like LinkedIn).

  • Resume title: For simplicity’s sake, it’s best to use the same job title that the employer used in their job posting. If they’re advertising for a House Manager, you should use the title House Manager. It’s okay to add descriptors but keep the title to one line of your resume.

  • Summary statement: This is an important section since it is basically the introduction you use to make the best possible first impression. Write a three or five-sentence paragraph that highlights your core skills, experiences, and key accomplishments. How to document your work experience

Of course, every employer is going to examine your work experience section to gain insight into your work habits, expertise, and achievements for prior employers. Make sure that you use this section to document not just your prior jobs but the results that you achieved for each employer. Again, use bullet point descriptions for those achievements, and try to include quantifiable results wherever possible. For example:
